The recent EndSARS protests in various parts of the country showed that the youth had woken up to the fact that the political class had failed them, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kehinde Bankole, has said.
Bankole, who is also the Managing Director and Chairman of KAB Constructions and former member of Kwara State House of Assembly Commission, addressed reporters in Lagos.
He said it was thrilling that the nation’s youths had woken up as the political class had done so little to put them into consideration. The politician expressed sadness over the reports of COVID-19 palliatives uncovered in various warehouses across the country.
He regretted that the political class failed to give them out to the masses to cushion the effects of the pandemic.
Bankole also condemned the hoodlums who hijacked the peaceful protests to destroy properties across the country.
He said: “The political ruling class must go back to the drawing board to fix the various ills within the Nigerian system. This is a time when people must come together and ensure that the obnoxious 1999 Constitution, which has been giving us problems is fixed. This is a good avenue for us to realise that this country may not be able to continue like this unless it’s restructured.”
